The rainy season has been harsh on your garden. You see your plants and flowers sprawled everywhere as they were blown away by the sheer force of the monsoon. Depressed, you cannot fathom the current state of your garden. You want to rebuild everything that has been destroyed by the rains but you do not know where to begin. A good starting point would be to add something new to your garden. Try to build flower beds for your blossoms and see how these garden divisions can protect your flowers from bad weather and bad soil.
A flower bed is an area of a garden where flowers are kept. Specially built for flowers, a flower bed is enriched with the best soil and provides good drainage for your blossoms. It can be moved from one area to another, which is beneficial whenever the season is too harmful for the health of your flowers.
With all the necessary materials and a little gardening skill, you can easily build a flower bed. You simply need to have a container that will act as your flower bed and the rest is pretty much common sense. As you can see, the flower bed is just like a fine buffet. The flowers’ growth, health and appearance are enhanced through proper segregation.
Materials Used:
soil (enough to cover your chosen container)
compost
wooden board (5 x 5 feet)
4 wooden planks (5 feet in length)
shovel
trowel
hammer
nails
bag of fertilizer
various flowers
mechanical drill
Before you build the flower bed, you should collect all the necessary items. You can visit a lumber shop to get your wooden board and wooden planks. As for the soil, compost and fertilizer, you can go to a plant store and ask for enough materials to cover a five foot flower bed. Don’t worry about the gardening and carpentry tools since they are readily available in most households. If you don’t have all of the stated materials, you can always depend on your kindhearted neighbors to lend you a few items.
To kick off the creation process, nail the wooden planks to the ends of your wooden board. Bore holes throughout the plank with the use of a mechanical drill. To makes things easier, think of the wooden board as a strainer since it is going to act as the base and the drainage of your flower bed.
When you have successfully filled the board with holes, cover your flower bed with compost, topsoil and fertilizer in that particular order. Use your shovel and your trowel to make sure that the different layers of soil are compact. Once done, you can now plant the blossoms with the use of your trowel. Follow proper color coordination when you select the flowers that will go together. Remember, the flower bed is much like a flower exhibit within your garden. Proper presentation should always be observed. When you have planted all your blossoms, your flower bed is ready to be displayed.
You always have the option to build multiple flower beds if ever your garden has a ton of flowers. Just follow the aforementioned instructions and you can create your own flower bed exhibit whenever you have time.
