How to Get Rid of Muffin Top
A muffin top is a slang used to describe the rolls of fat that push over the tops of jeans or slacks. It calls to mind the puffy topmost part of a muffin pastry, hence the name.
Sometimes, people can’t help having muffin tops. Some people’s genes relegate excess fat directly in the abdominal area. The rising popularity of low-waist jeans have contributed to the muffin top phenomenon as well. Here’s how you can get rid of your muffin top problem.
Choose Sizes that Fit
Having ill-fitting clothes are usually why people walk around with muffin tops in the first place. Even if you are relatively thin, your gut will really be pushing out if you insist on wearing jeans two sizes too small for you.
The solution? Just be honest with yourself. Having a pair of jeans zip up doesn’t mean they really fit you. Make sure that the jean cinches itself perfectly without disturbing the lines of your torso. Using a belt can also help make sure that the jeans fit perfectly and will prevent them from slipping down. If all else fails, a good skirt will help too.
The top you wear also makes a difference. Unless you have rock-hard abs, don’t flaunt your stomach in public. If you have jeans that hug your body perfectly, then you can wear form-fitting tops. Otherwise, look for tops that are a little loose around the abdominal area or empire-cut blouses.
Exercise and Diet
If you have a flabby abdomen, doing just abdominal exercises won’t do. You have to do overall exercises, with a focus on your abdomen. This means cardio exercises like walking, jogging or dancing combined with crunches should help.
Eating healthy also helps define and flatten your abdominal area. Eat more fiber-rich food and drink lots of water to help flush out toxins and fat in your body. Opt for a healthy diet that includes fruits, vegetables, lean meat and whole grains.
