How to Determine Ring Size
Determining a ring size is an important step in choosing a ring, whether for yourself or for someone else. Here are the ways to find the best ring size to fit your finger the best. Here’s how:

Marker
Paper or string
Scissors

Procedure
Cut a four-inch long string or a strip of paper. It should not be wider than 3/4 of an inch.
Wrap it around your ring finger, where the ring should be. Do not wrap it around too tightly, or else the ring won’t fit through your knuckle. Make sure that the string fits your ring finger enough to be secure on your finger but not too much as to cut off your blood circulation. Also be sure to leave a little allowance in case your finger swells.
Mark where the circle of the string or paper overlaps, and cut using scissors.
Measure with a tape measure or a ruler.
Compare the measurement to this conversion table. In doubt, round off the measurement. This measurement is in inches.
1 13th/16th = Ring Size 4
1 15th/16th = Ring Size 5
2 1/16th = Ring Size 6
2 3/16th = Ring Size 7
2 5/16th = Ring Size 8
2 7/16th = Ring Size 9
2 9/16th = Ring Size 10
Jewelry stores also have actual measurement rings that you can try on to measure your ring size. Having an actual ring to try on can help you finding a ring that fits comfortably.
Keep in mind that the average ring size for an average-sized woman is Ring Size 6-7. If you are slightly smaller, go down a half step and request for a Ring Size 5.5. If you are slightly larger, request for a Ring Size 7.5. Make half-step progressions until you find the perfect ring.
You can also ask women of the same or similar height and weight as you what size their rings are. You can try trying out the rings of your mother or sisters for a good feel of what the perfectly-fitted ring feels like.
