Traditional religion believes that " the human body is made up of five elements". Namely: sky , air , fire , water and soil. So after death this body is burnt in fire or given earth. The material with which this body is made , merges into the same material again after death. God is omnipresent. He is in every object , in every creature. However , as a symbol of this human body made of five elements, we make idols out of clay during worship. Later we worship him in the knowledge of God by establishing life in that clay idol. Abandonment is the last step of this idol worship. That is why we immerse idols in the waters of the Ganges so that the idols of the earth may be re-incorporated into nature through water. The formless God that is in our hearts is made into an earthen idol for worship and is given a "physical form". At the end of the puja, the formless God is given a place in the heart by abandoning that "physical form" again. That is why when the idol is abandoned during Durga Puja, we pray to the mother , “ Mother , come among us again. This one year you will be in our hearts. Again , year after year, we will worship your idol with solemnity. ” He who is born , his death is inevitable. This is the eternal law of nature. In the same way , the abandonment of the one who is invoked is inevitable. It is through abandonment that the hope of a "return" is transmitted. For all these reasons, we worship God externally every year by making an earthen idol of God in the heart, and at the end of the worship we relocate him to the heart by giving up. This is the essence of idol worship and idol abandonment. Joy Ma Durga
