Devices that have vernier scales or circular scales , such as slide calipers , screw-gauge. When the ends of the jaws or screws of these instruments are joined to each other, the zero spots of the vernier or circular scale are supposed to coincide with the zero spots of the main scale. If they do not match , then such error is called zero error.
