When food reaches the duodenum from the stomach, the liver comes in contact with the secreted bile and the pancreas excretes the secreted juice. Peters converts fatty foods into tiny particles and allows them to react with vesicles. Peters contains bicarbonate , which helps to soothe acidic juices from the stomach. The digestive juices secreted from the pancreas contain four enzymes - trypsin , chymotrypsin , amylase and lipase. Trypsin and chymotrypsin are non-vegetarian foods. Amylase breaks down starchy foods into glucose and lipase breaks down fatty foods into fatty acids and glycerol. Digestion of all food is completed in the duodenum.
