Pedestal grinders are used in most places in various mechanical factories. It has an electric mater mounted on a separate pedestal and has a grinding wheel firmly attached to both ends of its shaft. The structure and use of the upper part of this machine is almost according to the bench grinder. The stands at the bottom are of various designs and are permanently attached to the workshop floor with the help of nuts and bolts. It is a machine with a vertical bar or pillar and its height is such that the craftsmen can do the work of grinding while standing. Buffing and polishing can be done in the pedestal grinder by fitting buffing wheel and polishing wheel as required. Pedestal grinders are always used in the workshop for grinding , chipping , sawing , welding, etc. after activities like chisel , drillbeat , scriber , punch , lat cutting tools , grinding , cutting tools, etc. This type of grinding machine is also called off hand grinder.
