Surah Al-Imran Al-Imran unanimously Madani Surah. The number of verses in the surah is 200. Ruku number 20. Naming Imran is the grandfather of Hazrat Isa (as) and the father of Hazrat Maryam (as). Verses 33 and 34 of this surah contain descriptions of his (Imran's) family. The name of this Surah has been taken as Al-Imran as a sign of this. Another name of this surah is Aaj-Jahrah or Alokchhata. ' (Muslim) Also many of these Surahs have been named as Taybah , Al-Kanuz , Al-Aman , Al-Mujadalah , Al-Istegfar , Al-Maniyah etc. Although many names have been given to this Surah, it is accepted and known as 'Al-Imran'.
