As large part of the industry were migrants who came from cities like Lahore, Calcutta, Madras and contributed to the national character the industry, so they wanted to shows struggle of these people through films. In the films depiction of Bombay, were made of migrants and their encounter with the real pressures of daily life. It contributed in a big way to produce image of the city as a blend of dream and reality, of slums and star bungalows.
