Answer :

There are 57 fertiliser units manufacturing nitrogenous and complex nitrogenous fertilisers. There are 29 plants for urea, nine for producing ammonium sulphate as a by-product and 68 other small units producing single super phosphate. At present, there are ten public sector undertakings and one in cooperative sector at Hazira in Gujarat under the Fertiliser Corporation of India.
