that is in the evergreen family.....only can trim in the spring...........and the rule of thumb is less than 1/3.....I would do 1/4.........too much trimming can kill the tree.....and you need very sharp pruning shears and spray the cut end with something like spectricide prune spray to keep the insects from entering the cut end.
