I had that problem last year..with almost all of my 17 tomato plants, so sad!!!!  My garden guy Chuck said that I didn't have enough soil and the roots couldn't get down to get water when they needed it.  This year, I doubled my soil and I have a tomato jungle with just 6 plants:)
