How do u prevent tomato bottom rot?

1 Answer

Answer :

You need to add lime, mulch & fertilizer to your mix for next years crops..........I used newspaper in the whole garden to keep everything moist.....just leaving a empty area around the tomatoes.  it also kept the bugs down.  I used rocks to keep them in place. I also added grass, pine mulch, leaves and hay or straw to the above mix when we turned the soil over for the next year........doing that in the fall....then turning and raking again in the spring......then any grubs were attacked by the birds.  We are going back to chickens in the spring.  They kept all the bugs down to nothing....once in a while they ate a very ripe tomatoe......they also ate the over ripe cucumbers that we missed......refer to www.aces.edu/dept/extcomm/specialty/ber.html
