how do I transplant red sister, do I need to trim off the leaves?

It is a tender tropical perennial in zone 10 & 11................house plant anywhere else...........you can dividr rhizones, tubers, corns, or bulbs, they like ph 5.6 to 6.0 acidic...or 5.1 to 6.5 mild acidic...they like sun to partial shade............works in containers.  water well but not over watered.....I could be in shock.......usually bulbs are transplated in the fall.
