Answer :

Some Walmarts have double strength vinegar, use a watercan and put that full strength on the onions.  When you cut the grass use a grass catcher.  This is the safest thing to use.  It might kill some grass but that will grow back and this double strength vinegar is strong and they won't want to even go near it.  Only other thing that I can suggest is digging it up when the ground is wet and bag & trash.
