Answer :

You do NOT need to dig them up they are winter hardy.  Just trim off the flower  and leave the leaves and stem as they are needed to feed the bulb for zone 3 to 9 except for southern Florida, let them just die down to the ground and then cut of the brown leaves. Then add bonemeal to the ground for next years blooms. Remove any seed pods.
