first thing that I would do is make a sunken **** container for them, use any old lid like a top from peanut butter,  change watering to early am instead of evening as they like it moist & dark..............use course sand & crushed egg shells, till the soil near the plants, use wood chips, plant fennel, parsley or basil or let mint grow around your garden......hand pick & take away......make garlic spray  Happy Summer.
