If it’s a date, then you should talk about yourself (not in an egotistical way) something that gives them an idea of who you are and you could ask them questions about them. If it’s just random and you’re just trying to make small talk, you can just go to “what kind of music do you listen to?” And maybe you could explain that music can sometimes describe the listener. Not always. And then you can talk about music both of you like or dislike.
