One trick would be to hook it up to a Mac. I did that once with a drive of my neighbors that died in that way. It spun up, and I was able to see everything. The reason is the Mac doesn’t care about the file structure on the pc side. It looks at it as new info. Then you can copy it to another pc drive that works.
