Answer :

The AMA did this a number of years ago. They partnered with Sunbeam, and started hawking their medical supplies (scales, etc.). I dropped my membership at that point, and have never rejoined. All these organizations are doing is ruining the reputation of physicians and giving the public more ammunition to “prove” that doctors are money-grubbers.
