I’ve always relied on opening the windows (tough to do in winter) and a healthy dose of fabreez (sp?) whose smell evaporates fairly quickly. Keeping airflow going with fans should help too. It can spread the smell but it lessens it in any particular area and helps pull fresh air through the fabric/carpet. Keep the air cycling in your house too to filter out as much as you can. Ozium also worked well in college for those “quick! out the window” moments… but I have a tough time finding it nowadays.
