How to Remove Smoke Smell
Smoking is a habit shared by many people, and while addicting, the smell that lingers afterward is not a pleasant one. Here’s how you can remove the smoke smell from your room, your car or your clothes.

Closed Areas
Houses can retain that smoke smell long after the smokers have moved out. When removing smoke smells from your house, you can either re-paint your walls or wash all upholstery, walls, curtains, carpets and the like in a solution of half-vinegar and half-water.

Painting the walls is done because smoke can seep into the walls and stay there for a very long time. Painting them seals off the source of the smoke smell for good. Vinegar, on the other hand, is a very effective way to remove the smoke smell due to its acidic qualities. Don’t worry about the vinegar smell–after washing it off thoroughly with water, it will disappear completely.

Have your carpets shampooed, and make sure you’ve dusted and polished all of your surfaces. Smoke resin could have deposited themselves on rarely-cleaned crevices and could be contributing to the smell.

After all the cleaning and repainting is done, you can light up a few aromatherapy candles (observing fire safety rules, of course), and introduce a whole new smell to your household.

You can also try using odor absorbers like charcoal and baking soda. Ozone generators also do wonders in getting rid of the smoke smells. However, absorbents tend to need some time before they can get rid of the smoke smell entirely, so be patient.

Clothes
Clothes infused with a smoke smell can be easily removed by a round of thorough laundry with vinegar and water. However, if you need to remove the smoke smell in a jiffy, you can try this nifty trick.

Put your clothes up on a hanger as soon as possible. Use a spray made specifically to remove odors, usually available in most household stores. Spray it all over your clothes until your clothes are slightly damp with it, and let it soak. Spray it again if any smoke smell lingers after.
