My system is run from XP then to a D-link router to a Windows 7 laptop.and I send folders by internet. Not exactly your problem but it works. If those folders are in an earlier Office on the XP you may have to individually upgrade some of the Office 7 programs that you use the most on Windows 7 to the XP machine. You do not have to remove the old office but the new office 7 will bring them up and want yopu to make decisions on them when you close.. I have office 2000 and loved the Publisher those documents come up in the new Office program but I feel better having them in the old format available for a while.I worried about not liking Office 7 and found that I do :-) All documents in the folders in the 7 will come up in the new Office 7 on the XP then. It Really worked for me. I can transfer back and forth fine now. I leave all the idiot prompts turned on in Office. I can go further with this as there were some simple adjustments to make but it was pretty easy and I do not really know if this is helpful to you or this will help you solve your problem at all. I do love my favorite solution for most computer problems…I call my son to come over. :-)
