I don’t know, but, I have noticed these trends as well. This has been an amazingly mild summer, and I JUST looked up the 2011 winter predictions, they say an average winter for the west, no El Nino or La Nina action, neutral.

Last Answer : I know it is not exact but we hit a high of 105 this summer in Chicago and I remember seeing -13 without windchill one morning going to work. So I guess that is about a 123 degree temperature range. Factor in wind chill reading as push that out well over 180 degrees.
