Don’t let her feel hustled off, cut off from peers, managed rather than interacted with. If your side of the family is a positive one, keep your daughter in the mix as far as visiting, attending celebrations and even funerals so she can get to know extended family and feel she’s part of a greater whole than immediate family members.
