It doesn't work, we don't know what works, but if you tell us "this is important" and tell us why it's important we are most likely going to remember it until we die. We will also remember information we deem important, so if someone with ADHD is bad at math they won't see it as important so we won't remember it. However if that same person loves history they could most likely chat your ear off about wars, historical figures, etc. And they will remember every single detail.
