How can tri substitution of Bromine be prevented in aniline ? OR How can we prepare mono bromo aniline ?

1 Answer

Answer :

Because of high reactivity of aromatic amines substitution tends to occur at o- and ppositions. Monosubstituted aniline can be prepared by protecting — NH2 group by acetylation with acetic anhydride, then carrying out substitution followed by hydrolysis of substituted amide.
