The third-largest earthquake ever recorded on a seismographoccurred on December 26th of 2004 just off the west coast ofSumatra, Indonesia. It triggered a series of tsunamis, killing~230,000 people and injuring ~125,000 people. Over 45,000 wentmissing, and over 1.7 million people were displaced.
