There should be no electrical appliances (a portable heater, a hair dryer, anything that is connected to the mains electricity supply) in a bathroom. Electric heaters should be fixed high up on the wall, out of reach of wet hands, and should only be turned on or off by a drawstring from the ceiling. The same goes for the light bulb in the bathroom - either turned on by a ceiling drawstring, or a switch outside the bathroom. Basically, water and electricity don't mix - especially if by touching an appliance you provide a path through you to earth - very shocking. Also, using a mobile phone or an ipad that is also being charged, while you are in the bath (it has happened), could lead to being electrocuted if you accidentally drop the device into the bath water.
