The culprit of the accident does not answer the phone.

When I got to the car, I had an offended bumper, pieces of bumper all around. Behind the wiper was a piece of paper with a telephone number. I called there and the person in question did not even introduce himself and said that he would report it to the insurance company and then he would contact me. The next day I tried to call him and turn off his cell phone. It's been a week and it's still off. Should I go to the police with that? Or should I wait? So that they don't tell me at the insurance company that it should have been reported within a week, for example. Thanks for the advice, I'm a retiree, so now I don't know what to do next

So that's a pretty weird act on the part of that gentleman. I wouldn't wait that long. As soon as he didn't pick up my phone for two days, or he had it switched off all the time, I'd be calling the police. Maybe before. I have such a nature. I'd like to be clear. So I have no experience with this, but shouldn't anyone have made an official statement of the damage?
