Are cheaper drugs of the same quality?

Today the pharmacist told me (I pay about 700 CZK for medicines) that I can buy them about 200 CZK cheaper. They say they are exactly the same but from another manufacturer. Do you think that's true? So why would a doctor prescribe the more expensive ones if they were just as effective.

Answer :

Hospitals only function because they have money from pharmaceutical companies, but therefore pharmaceutical companies dictate that doctors are not allowed to prescribe certain drugs. They can be even better, it's about what you take your medication for and then deduce what active ingredients will help you. Unfortunately, for most people who do not do health care, it is difficult to know about medicine. I know from a friend in health care that most pharmacy staff usually knows about drugs, so I would believe her :).
