We live in an 8-apartment condominium and now our heating system will be renovated. The 8 flats have long been equipped with a modern boiler system, the pipe network remains the same. Now, however, a new pipe network will be built with a separate heat meter per apartment. My question would be which one do you think is more economical in terms of heating. Should I keep the old cast iron radiators or if I have installed modern radiators?

1 Answer

Answer :

I would choose to replace the cast iron radiator. Cast iron radiators are no longer state-of-the-art and are less efficient than modern plate radiators. Many people say the advantage of cast iron radiators is that they keep heat for a long time. It's true, but it's harder to heat up, and the fact that it releases slowly while keeping the same amount of heat for a long time isn't as fast as a sheet radiator, for example. The amount of heat released matters, not how long it takes for the radiator to dissipate.
