How to Fold a Fitted Sheet
Linens aren’t very burdensome to household chores, but if you got a whole bunch of fitted sheets in your hands, then chances are you’re going to take a long time to get them folded. If you’re constantly dealing with this dilemma, no need to fret. Here’s an easy way to fold fitted sheets.
What You’ll Need:
Fitted sheets
Clean and flat surface
Washing machine
Laundry detergent
Fabric softener
Before You Begin
Fitted sheets, or any kind of linen, can be folded better if it’s freshly laundered. Make it a habit to fold your sheets immediately when they come out of the laundry. Here are a few more tips to remember.
Use a high quality liquid softener along with your detergent. This will help soften the fabric and make it easier to fold.
When the drying cycle is finished, remove the sheets while they’re still warm. This prevents them from wrinkling. If you weren’t able to take them out just put them back in the dryer with a moist cloth and spin for a few minutes.
Make sure the sheets are completely dry before attempting to fold and store them away.
Folding The Sheet
Find a flat surface where you can work. It can be a bed, a sofa or a table. Make sure it’s free from dirt or liquid spills, otherwise your sheet will be stained and dirtied.
Fold the fitted sheet in half, the top meeting the foot (the bottom part) of the sheet.
Tuck the top corner neatly into the corresponding bottom corner. For example, if it’s the right top corner, tuck it under the right bottom corner. Turn the top corners inside out to do this.
Once again, fold the sheet in half, so all corners meet. Tuck the corners again into each other, to force one set of corners to be turned inside out.
You’re now left with a bunched up corner area. For it to be smooth down, fold in the side that’s longest, so this corner will lie flat at a slight angle. For the short side, fold it in as well.
Fold the sheet in half once more, going the long way. This covers the folded area from the previous step.
You’re now left with a long strip of fabric. You can fold it in 1/3 or 1/4 depending on how big or small you want the folded product to end up.
Keep your folded fitted sheet in a dry and clean closet.
Fitted sheets can be annoying if they don’t stay flat and neat, but with these easy steps, this task will be a cinch.
