Carbon monoxide ( CO) is a colorless , odorless , tasteless gas that is lighter than air. Toxic to all vertebrate and invertebrate hemoglobin, including humans. Carbon monoxide is easily inhaled by humans into the lungs. Once there, it enters the bloodstream in a diffusion process and forms a complex compound with the hemoglobin in the blood. Compounds : - Hb + CO ---> Hb (CO) which causes oxygen to not work in many ways , causes shortness of breath and can lead to death of people suffering from heart disease. Therefore it is toxic.
