Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

1 Answer

Answer :

Frank has been working hard as a carpenter for almost 30 years. When he was young, he dreamt of becoming a bank manager, but his poor grades in school discouraged him from pursuing his ambition. He was considered by his teachers and schoolmates the slowest learner because of his inability to focus and grasp his lessons.

Frank’s marriage is also a failure. His wife constantly nags him regarding his lack of ambition and drive to achieve greater things in life. He tries to jump from one job to the next but he’s unable to maintain a job. He just can’t seem to focus on anything at all.

Frank is just one of the millions of people around the world suffering from ADD.

ADD

Attention Deficiency Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuro-behavioral disorder that affects both children and adults. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, there are three types of ADHD.

Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type: In this condition, people suffer from restlessness, anxiety and extreme mood swings.
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD): In this condition, people find difficulty focusing on certain chores. They are also easily distracted and they tend to forget important details.
Combination: Possibly the worst of the three ADHD types, people suffering from this condition experience restlessness and lack of mental focus.
Challenges of ADD

With lack of focus, both children and adults can experience great difficulties performing their responsibilities. Children can have a hard time picking up lessons in school, while adults tend to shift from one job to another. Because of the inability to concentrate on given tasks, achieving dreams becomes extra difficult for people suffering from ADD.

By acknowledging that ADD is a disorder common in both children and adults, a greater understanding of people’s behavior can be achieved. With the numerous treatments available today, controlling ADD’s effects may not be too difficult.
