What is Chills ?

1 Answer

Answer :

: When a cast is made up of a mixture of thin and clay parts, the thin part becomes harder than the clay part. The imbalance of cooling can cause cracks or uneven compression in the casting. To overcome this problem, i.e. to speed up the freezing of the clay part and to meet the volume compression, pieces of metal are used in the clay part. This metal part is called chills.
