: The register is used as a temporary memory for calculations for faster processing. These are in the CPU. Register is a flip flop or temporary memory. Registers are required for short-term storage of temporary data during processing. The first invented personal computer used a 16-bit register. Then there is the 32 bit register. The size of the register is usually called ' word size ' . The larger the size of the register, the more data can be processed at once. So the bigger the size of the register, the higher the working speed of the computer. Computers with 64-bit processors are currently used, with a capacity of more than 32 bits. The number of flip-flops in a register can hold as many bits. When many bits are together, it is called a register file. The larger the size of the register, the faster the processing speed of the computer.
