The three Indian industrialists of the 19 th century were : (i) Dwarkanath Tagore, (ii) Dinshaw Petit & Nusserwanjee Tata (iii) Seth Hukum Chand                Dwarkanath Tagore set up six joint stock companies in the 1830s and 1840s.                 In Bombay, Dinshaw Petit and Nusserwanjee Tata built huge industrial empires in India.                 Seth Hukumchand, a Marwari businessman set up the first jute mill in Calcutta in 1917.
