Frederic Sorrieu belonged to France. He was an artist who visualised a world made up of democratic and social republics in his series consisting of four prints. The word social denotes a political theory which supports a state regulated organisation wherein the means of production, distribution and exchange are under state's control. Ngo Dinh Diem belonged to South Vietnam. When the French left Vietnam (end of colonial rule), Vietnam was divided into North and South Vietnam, led by Ho Chi Minh and communists and Bao Dai respectively. However, Bao Dai's regime was soon overthrown by a coup led by Ngo Dinh Diem who established dictatorial rule and adopted repressive policies.
