When I was 19 (I'm 64 now) my father—in a drunken rage— held my mom and I hostage by threatening to shoot us. At one point he held a loaded handgun next to my mom's head. We escaped while he was loading his fifth firearm. Several years later, he was shot in the head by my stepmother. He was 49. I did not grieve.
