squirrel will do that.....have ground pepper bags next year in the tree like ornaments...........for now you might have to pick them and brown bag them and fold the told over to keep the carbon dioxide inside.............use clothes pins to hold it closed.  will still taste better than store bought, but not as sweet as they would be if left until the bees sting..a cat would help resolve this problem.
