Approximately 6-8" apart. They are sold in plugs, pots and flats. It makes it easier when they are in plugs: 6-8".  When you buy them in flats, depending on how full the flat is, you can cut out plugs and plant them that way. Use lots of mulch and water them well to get them established then, depending on the temp and humidity, just soak them a bit as needed.
