answer:Hello, fellow deviated septum-sister! I had mine fixed when I was sixteen. And let me tell you, it was PAINFUL. I’d really reconsider it. I’m not sure about the cost and insurance coverage because my parents paid for it. But I can let you know that the surgery doesn’t take long, but the recovery is really a pain. Before I had my nose fixed, there was a bone in my nose that would literally pop out of place and cause me EXTREME pain to the point of tears. Unless your nose is causing you physical harm, I would say not to do anything about it. After I had my surgery my nose looked completely different. I didn’t have a rhinoplasty, which I’m pretty sure is where they reshape your nose. But even though they didn’t reshape it or do any kind of cosmetic surgery, my nose looks completely different. I hate how my new nose looks and I’d give anything to have it back to my old self. I think getting your septum fixed is a septoplasty, which is totally different than rhinoplasty. Rhino. probably won’t be covered by your insurance, seeing as its basically cosmetic. But if you have x-rays done of your nose, and theres a clear problem, maybe insurance will do it. Oh, and to wrap it up, years later my nose is back to bothering me. Don’t get me wrong, for a while after surgery I could breathe so much clearer, but now I’m back to my old self. No broken bone popping in my nose, but I’m still having breathing problems.
