answer:Never use poison bait with pets around and also, anything that ingests it can cause secondary poisoning in prey animals/birds that might ingest the carcasses of the poisoned animals. Moles feed on earthworms only, Gophers on roots, grasses and, of course, your veggie garden. Are you sure they are Moles, or Gophers first of all? You can try flooding out the burrows by putting your garden hose down the holes but this may or may not be effective. You can also try a non-toxic mixture of castor oil and dish soap sprayed around your yard and in their burrows or yes, call in a professional to trap some of them. Thing is, it is spring when everything is doing it’s thing, so, don’t expect to rid yourself of all Moles/Gophers, it just won’t happen. Personally I love them both, a few holes here and there don’t bother me as I think they are very cute little critters and just doing their thing.
