Why is Shakespeare still being taught in schools?

1 Answer

Answer :

Shakespeare's words, phrases, characters and stories are so often referred to that a person who is not familiar with them will miss the constant allusions to them in everyday speech and in a lot of entertainment, including TV shows, movies and songs. Besides, Shakespeare's plays are the best drama ever written, so they are hugely entertaining (if done right) and also deal with a number of issues which are of great importance to people today just as they were to people in Shakespeare's day.
