It undergoes remission with pregnancy and with certain medications. It tends to become inactive after menapause, but any permanent damage remains From personal experience & others' experiences, throw in as much research as my brain could handle; the answer is it doesn't. There are several treatments both established & "old wives' tales" that help lessen the symptoms. In some cases there has been relief for years only to have it come back later in life, this has included the cases of people with hysterectomies & who have had children.
