If you already have your security clearance, then you should take active steps to make sure that it does not expire. One easy way to retain your security clearance is to take part-time or full-time positions that have already been cleared. This will ensure that you keep your security clearance for years or months to come. The reason you will have an edge over the competition is due to the time-consuming nature of receiving a security clearance. For an applicant to receive his or her security clearance can take years or months. Companies can never totally ensure that applicants will even receive a security clearance. As a result, companies are resorting to hiring veterans and other people who already have an active security clearance. Do not let your security clearance status go to waste.
