Sometimes you will need to restart your computer once you connect the printer to it. Vista should recognize the printer type and download the necessary driver software for that particular type of printer. The great thing about windows vista is that many things that you want to install in vista doesnt take much work at all. With advanced plug and play systems all you would have to do is plug in your printer and allow the plug and play wizard to start up the process of getting your printer installed and after waiting a couple minutes your new printer should be installed. After that you will want to set that printer as your default if it doesnt do that automatically. With these steps it should work but if it doesnt you should look into your printer's manual and find a disc that should have your needed information.
