In general a side by side freezer and refrigerator combo will afford you more storage space in both sections than a model with the freezer on top. A typical side by side model offers anywhere from 8 to 10 cubic feet of storage in the freezezr while the average model with the freezer on top offers less than 5 cubic feet of storage in the freezer. Side by sides also offer more than 20 cubic feet of refrigerator storage on average while a freezer on top model offers less than 20 cubic feet of storage on average.
