In the United States, all citizens are guaranteed protectionagainst employment discrimination due to a body of equalopportunity employment protection that was signed into law as TitleVII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. At the time, the act wasintended to protect Americans from employment discrimination basedon their nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs or color. In thedecades to come, further acts were passed that protected employeesfrom discrimination based on their age, military service, familyhistory, genetics and physical or mental disability.
